What to expect
Our curriculum is rooted in traditional Taekwondo values while embracing a modern, well-rounded approach to martial arts training. Students develop striking skills through boxing integration and pad work, build practical real-world awareness through modern self-defence, basic ground defence and knife defence, and refine technique through pattern work, set sparring and free sparring.
We also offer board breaking (for Blue Belt and above), a dedicated tournament series, specialised events with other martial arts styles, and targeted sessions including additional training days and exclusive Black Belt training events, all supported by a strong social culture that makes training as enjoyable as it is rewarding.
Your first visit
Your first visit is designed to be welcoming, enjoyable and straightforward. There’s nothing to be nervous about. You’ll begin by learning the tradition of bowing and the respect shown towards instructors, before being shown how to line up and take your place as part of the class. From there, you’ll be guided through some simple warm-ups before being introduced to your first stances, your first punch, and your first kick, typically a front kick.
We always begin with the basics, because just like a tree with strong roots, a martial artist with a solid foundation will stand tall and weather any storm. Everything you learn from your very first class will serve as the building blocks for all of your future training.
Gradings and belts
After approximately three months of training, you may be eligible to attend your first grading, an examination of the skills and techniques you have developed to determine whether you are ready to progress to your next belt level.
Gradings are held every three months and mark an important milestone in every student’s journey, with the belt progression moving through White, Yellow, Green, Blue, Brown and Black, with tip levels in between each colour.
Senior students
Once you reach Blue Belt, you are recognised as a senior student, and the time between gradings extends to six months. This is a deliberate and important step: at this level the techniques become more advanced, and that additional time ensures every senior student develops not just the physical skills, but the maturity, depth of understanding and confidence that the higher ranks demand.
